How the game works, in the order you will run into it.

MEME Market is a play-money game. Degen Points (DP) are free, have no cash value, and cannot be bought, sold or withdrawn.

Getting started

You do not need an account to play. Opening the site gives you a balance of 10,000 DP and you can bet immediately. Signing up later keeps the same balance and the same bet history — it upgrades the account you already have rather than starting a new one.

You can sign up with an email address and password, or by signing a message with a Phantom wallet. The wallet is used to prove who you are and nothing else: no transaction is ever requested, and nothing is ever sent to or from it.

Placing a bet

Pick an outcome, then pick a stake. The chips show what that stake would return if the outcome wins, based on the pools as they stand right now. There is a cap of 5,000 DP per market per person.

Betting closes before the market's window ends, so nobody can bet on an outcome that is already effectively decided. Once betting closes, positions are locked: they cannot be sold, exited or hedged, because there is no order book.

Prices and payouts

Prices are shown in cents. 62¢ means the pools imply a 62% chance — it is not a price you get filled at. Every market is parimutuel: everyone's stake goes into a pool, and when the market resolves, everyone who backed the winning outcome gets their stake back plus a share of the losing pool, in proportion to how much they staked. A 2% rake is taken from the losing pool.

This is why a projected payout moves. Every bet placed after yours changes the pools, including bets on your own side, which dilute your share. The figure shown when you bet is a snapshot, not a promise.

Payouts are floored to whole points. The remainder is burned, never invented — the total paid out plus the rake plus that dust always equals the total staked.

Thin markets

A market with under 500 DP staked, or with fewer than 2 people in it, shows an even split rather than real odds, and is labelled as thin. One 100 DP bet does not make an outcome 100% likely, and showing it that way would be misleading.

How markets resolve

Automatically, from an on-chain event log we ingest and store ourselves. No human decides an outcome and there is no dispute process, because there is nothing to dispute — the inputs are published on the status page along with every past resolution.

If our feed was down for more than 10% of a market's window, the market voids and every stake is refunded in full. We would rather refund than guess.

Common questions

Do I have to claim my winnings?

No. When a market resolves, winnings are credited to your balance in the same instant. There is no claim step and nothing expires.

Why did my market refund instead of paying out?

Either the feed was down for too much of the window, or the market had fewer than 2 bettors or under 500 DP staked. With nobody on the other side there is nothing to win, so every stake goes back.

Can I cash out my points?

No, and there is no plan to allow it. Points have no monetary value. That is deliberate — see the terms.

Can I sell a position before the market closes?

No. There is no order book and no secondary market. A bet stays until the market resolves.

I lost everything. Now what?

Right now, nothing — there is no automatic top-up yet, so a balance at zero stays at zero. This is a gap we know about. The leaderboard ranks profit and loss from betting only, so whatever we add will not flatter anyone's rank.

I forgot my password.

Password reset needs verified email, which is not wired up yet. If you are locked out, see the support page — this is a known gap, not something you did wrong.
